Ronaldo closes in on FIFA player of the year

Cristiano Ronaldo is online to retain his crown as a FIFA Men's World Player of the Year in London on Monday night. Ronaldo The superstar of Real Madrid and Portugal will face Barcelona striker Lionel Messi 
 
and Neymar of Paris St Germain for the award he won last year. The ceremony, which takes place at the London Palladium, is the second since the FIFA prize was once again separated from the Ballon d'Or award. Ronaldo has scored 44 goals for the club and the country so far in 2017 and scored twice in the Champions League final in June when Real retained the trophy and became European champion for the 12th time. Messi has scored 50 goals for Barça and Argentina, while Neymar, the most expensive player in the world after leaving Barcelona for PSG in the summer, has 25 goals in his name for Barça, PSG and Brazil. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte leads the top male coach along with Ronaldo's Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri. The scorpion kick by Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud against Crystal Palace in January has been nominated for the Puskas Award for the best goal. Castellanos is also nominated for the Best Player of the Year award along with last year's winner Carli Lloyd of the United States and Dutch Lieke Martens. The winners are decided by a jury made up of club and international coaches, media representatives and sympathizers.
