EFCC to auction seized oil vessels, products

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) held a pre-bidding meeting Tuesday with auctions from the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja.

Acting President EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, told the participants that the process is part of the Commission's transparency policy with the aim of giving every interested company a fair chance to participate in the exercise. Magu, who spoke through Deputy Director of Procurement, Olusina Ogundimu said that the purpose of the meeting was to educate bidders shortlisted for the auction about the stipulated guidelines contained in the RFP that were given to them earlier. Previously, the court had granted a final order for confiscation of confiscated oil products and vessels that are the product of seized offenses of illegal oil bunkers to the Federal Government of Nigeria. Selected bidders were selected from a pre-qualified list of registered companies, which indicated interest in the process following an announcement in two national newspapers and the Federal Tenders Journal in June 2017. According to Ogundimu, "It is expected that bidders submit the proposals on October 17, 2017, after which the evaluation committee will sit down to evaluate, review, select and recommend successful auctioneers for the engagement. " The members of the auctioneer committee came from various EFCC departments, including the legal and tax department, operations, general services, asset forfeiture and the procurement department. A statement by EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said the process is in compliance with the Public Procurement Act of 2007.
