In a statement by Senator Bassey Ewa-Henshaw, coordinator; Ntufam Edet Asim, Secretary of the other 18 prominent personalities of the state, said: "Looking at the current wave of agitation by different sections of the Nigerian state for self-determination and restructuring, the Front concluded that the upheavals are well grounded, discontented with the current structure of the Nigerian federation that we believe is unacceptable and unsustainable. "Cross River State people have borne a disproportionately heavy burden of the failing structure of the Nigerian state." Cross River State received the least protection from the Nigerian state. Our territories have twice been ceded to Cameroon without consultation, let alone protection. Our people became refugees in their ancestral lands. The unity of the Nigerian federation can only be based on equity, justice and equality for all citizens, and discussions should begin immediately in a peaceful, honest and accommodating environment to prevent the country from becoming involved in a situation of chaos and confusion. "The mechanism of negotiation of the association with the Nigerian state by the various peoples and nationalities can not be in the National Assembly due to the imbalance in the representation structured in the National Assembly by several military regimes. of the various resolutions reached by the 2014 National Conference that will allow states as a Federating Unit to control and manage their resources and to manage their affairs constitutionally.
