Ms.
Buhari's reaction came when the Force's headquarters in Abuja also
rejected the senator's allegations that the Inspector General of the
Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, purchased two SUV Prado for the personal use
of the First Lady, Ms. Aisha Buhari. also described as misrepresentation, Misau's assertions that the IGP adulterated his retirement age. He
argued that the vehicles, which were Toyota Sienna Bus and Toyota Hiace
and not the Prado SUVs, as Senator Misau asserted, were turned over to
the First Lady's Police Escort staff at the request of their Field
Helper, ADC. But
Senator Misau was relentless yesterday, saying that the IGP was the
mastermind behind the leak of the document he exposed to Ms. Buhari. However,
reacting yesterday in a statement signed by its Director of
Information, Suleiman Haruna, Ms. Buhari said that she was still using
the vehicles that were assigned to her during the 2015 campaigns. The
statement said: "Our attention has been drawn for
the widely circulated news, circulated, and attributed to a member of
the Senate that two SUVs of the Inspector General of the Police were
delivered to the wife of the President, Ms. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari
personally. "The wife of the president wants to make clear that since assuming the position of her husband as president of Nigeria, she did not receive these vehicles mentioned. "In
addition, the vehicles he still uses belong to the family and were used
during the election campaign of 2015, including that of his
environment." Ms. Buhari had previously refused to receive such vehicles on her twitter account, saying "I am still using my personal autos". Force
Headquarters in a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer,
CSP Jimoh Moshood, described Senator Misau's allegation as unfounded and
misleading. He
said: "The attention of the Nigerian police force has been directed to
publications in some newspapers of October 26, 2017, entitled" Misau
accuses IGP of buying 2 jeeps (SUV) for Buhari's wife "and" IGP Idris
manipulated his
retirement age, says Misau "accredited to Senator Isa Hamma Misau." The
two reports were studied and found to be an absolute, misleading,
unfounded falsehood, a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and drag
the name of the wife of the President
and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ms. Aisha
Buhari and Inspector General of the Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris in a
dispute. "It
is pertinent to state that at no time did the wife of the President and
Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ms. Aisha Buhari
directly or indirectly solicit vehicles for use by the Inspector
General of the Police and no vehicle if Jeep or SUV "To
make things clear and to unravel the minds of the public, especially
those who must have read the story, the Inspector General of Police is
empowered by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of 1999 as amended and the Law and Police Regulations, precisely Section 215 (1) (a & b) and (2). "The
Nigerian Police Force shall be under the command of the Inspector
General Police and the Deployment and Control of all Force Operations,
including the assignment of police vehicles for operational use
throughout the country shall be under the control of the IGP "It
is within the powers of the Inspector General of the Police as stated
above that when on January 17, 2017, SP Sani M Baba-Inna, the ADC to the
President's wife requested two vehicles for police personnel in
the convoy of the president's wife for the convoy movement and security
purposes, a Toyota Sienna Bus with Reg. No. NPF 2406D and a Toyota
Hiace Bus with Reg. No. NPF 3363D, were approved by the Inspector
General of the Police for the ADC and not for the person of the President's wife or for their personal use as alleged by Misau. "The
Nigerian Police wishes to declare categorically that all charges made
by Misau against the Inspector General of the Police and the wife of the
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for having purchased two
Jeeps for her in some media are unfounded, false and are
made in bad faith to mislead and deceive the public. "Members of the
public are now strongly obliged to neglect and dismiss the report in its
entirety. "In the IGP retirement age, Misau's accusations were vicious. To avoid doubts, the Police
Force of Nigeria and the Force Secretariat wrote to the Chairman of the
Police Service Commission on 18 January 2017, drawing the Committee's
attention to the observation of the current list of senior police
officers, by which it closed of the Inspector General of the Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, was incorrectly declared as 3Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/10/didnt-take-vehicle-igp-aisha-buhari/
