Obaseki seeks National Policy on capacity building for Judicial workers

The Governor of the State of Edo, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has presented solid arguments to improve the capacity of judicial workers in the 2017 National Policy of Justice, which is currently being revised. 
 
 According to Obaseki, this will address the challenge of the capacity faced by operators in the judicial system with the consequent impact on the rights of Nigerian citizens, and law and order. Obaseki made the case by declaring a two-day national awareness-raising workshop on the National Justice Policy in Benin on Monday. He said: "The policy must address the problems of sound structures and processes for the judicial system, the need to improve the capabilities of judicial operators and consider the role of the alternative dispute system in the country to protect the rights of citizens." The governor said that the implementation of a National Justice Policy is adequate since the Nigerian justice system needs to be reformed "Our administrative justice system is looking for reforms, it is necessary to restore absolute confidence in our justice sector. the Nigerian judicial system is the hope of the common man, we hope that all the challenges identified in the judicial system will be addressed in the policy, in order to achieve an efficient administration of justice in the country. "Obaseki said that his administration has already embarked on the implementation of the action plan to improve the system of administration of justice in the state, said the state government has joined the initiative of the National Security Adviser on prison reform and plans to decongest the prison by 50 percent in March. next year, he said that part of the reform includes the appointment of more to facilitate rapid judgment, invest in technologies to improve record keeping in court, and build an ultra-modern complex equipped with digital recording system. Earlier in his speech, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami represented by the Federation's Procurator General, Dayo Akpata, said that the National Justice Policy was necessary because of the absence of a policy framework to promote the collaboration between the interested parties. in the system. He said it is also in line with the efforts of the federal government to strengthen the system of administration of justice to be potent in the fight against corruption and protection of human rights. He added that the policy will be reviewed and reviewed through various input from participants. The National Zonal Awareness Workshop on the National Justice Policy is organized under the theme "Reforming the justice system for national development".
