In a statement, yesterday, by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Ms C.P. Ihuoma, the minister, who noted that the stipulated amount Post-UTME candidates are expected to pay was N2,000, regretted that some institutions charge above the amount. In describing the action as an act of insubordination, the minister not only ordered these institutions to repay the money, but JAMB also compiled names of such institutions and subjected them to appropriate sanction. The statement said: "The attention of the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has pointed to a report in the media alleging that the minister had issued a directive to universities to cancel the Post -UTME exams already scheduled. "The statement, according to the report, was issued by Mr. Ben Goong, Deputy Director of Press. The ministry wants to state emphatically that the report is completely false and unfounded. "The Minister, therefore, urges universities to move forward with their Post-UTME arrangements as previously planned." Goong, who allegedly issued the statement, has ceased to be a member of the ministry's staff since November 2016. "The Minister's attention has also been drawn to some of the institutions that are charging more than the stipulated N2,000.00 after UTME rates. "The minister sees this as an act of insubordination and redirected emphatically that every institution that is run in violation of the directive will face disciplinary action."
