According to him, the police demanded a sum N12,00 before they could move on to the scene as he said police complained fuel in its Hilux pickup truck. Olukosi who maintain that things have been worse more than one could imagine if it were not for the prompt response of a team of Nigerian Army from Akure, even before the arrival of the police in the area also said the attack he would have been avoided if the police acted quickly during the attack. He called on governments at all levels to strengthen security in the area in order to prevent recurrence of such development. In the attack of another witness he told reporters that the incident in which he said goodbye to all the people occurred around 8:00 pm on Friday. A woman, who identified herself as Mrs. Grace Olofin, had during a telephone conversation claimed that the killer herdsmen invaded the community in large numbers, caught the inhabitants of the unsuspecting community, adding that the invaders were armed with dangerous weapons automatic pistols, bows, arrows, swords, matchetes, piracy and mauling their victims with reckless abandon. Olofin addition, most of the villagers allegedly had to scamper for safety in the bushes to escape the attack of the killer shepherds, which she says were hacking into the unfortunate villagers with their deadly weapons. She said that the invaders had fired sporadically into the air and killed one Lekan Arosanyin and a person yet to be identified, while four others sustained varying degrees of injuries and are told they are being treated at a private hospital in Ado Ekiti , the state capital. Another witness, who escaped an assassination attempt, Adebayo Ajayi, described the incident as an attack of retaliation when he said the shepherds had previously fallen with villagers on their grazing activities in the community. He further explained that the villagers had been resisting the use of their farmland and pasture lands by the shepherds. The Divisional Police Officer in the area who also spoke in a telephone interview confirmed the incident and said he could not determine whether the incident was the Fulani herdsmen armed robbery or attack.
