Managerial qualities are key to success

Head of the Regional Office of Africa of the International Association of Professional Administrators (IPMA), Professor Olufeyisan Feyi-Sobanjo has stated that if a manager is successful in administrative practice, he must possess some qualities and attributes. In his message published on the program for the induction ceremony IPMA-UK 2017 held in Lagos, Feyi-Sobanjo said that the first guide to good 
 management practice is integrity, humility and observance of the principles of human rights. . He said: "Managers have personal responsibilities and must demonstrate integrity, humanity, observe the principles of human rights and avoid all discriminatory practices related to race, sex, religion and politics." Feyi-Sobanjo insists on the indispensability of these administrative qualities. He added that a manager must also maintain the interest of his organization, society and show respect for the reputation of other corporate organizations. "Respect for the confidentiality of official information, regular training and recycling are the key," he said. He explained that a professional manager is expected to accept from clients only jobs in which he has competence; respect the codes of other institutes; and be objective in giving professional opinions. On the need to respect others, he said: "Do not injure or attempt to harm, maliciously or recklessly, directly or indirectly, the professional reputation of others." Likewise, the President of the IPMA-UK Nigeria Forum, Dr. Chinedum Igbokwe, stressed the need for professional managers to join professional bodies. He listed partnership programs, academic collaborations and grants as some of the benefits that accrue to IPMA members. He said: "In the continuation of its efforts to improve the commercial and professional interest of the members, the IPMA-UK Council has approved the concessions of various associations and collaboration opportunities for members to explore and improve their business." To promote the careers of our members, IMPA-UK has established collaborations with several accredited universities in Africa and Europe for the Top-Up Bachelor Degree, Advanced Placement Master's Degree and Doctorate Degree programs. "For his part, the President of IPMA -UK, Prof Allan Sensicle urged professional managers to always ensure the dominance of the company by constantly updating their knowledge through learning and exchanging information with relevant professionals, as well as the need for managers to start working with their new ideas and concepts, otherwise they would lose them to competitors who spy and monitor their pl In the meantime, at the induction ceremony, the Fellows and Distinguished Honorary Fellows of the association received certifications. As well as members, senior members and associate members were certified. The dignitaries in the induction include; The Deputy and Minister of Labor and Labor Relations of Ghana, Mr. Ignatius Awuah; and the Minister of State, Trade, Industry and Investment of Nigeria, Aisha Abubakar, who was represented by a special assistant.
