Southern leaders attack Buhari over comment on Emeka Ojukwu
The Southern Leaders' Forum today accused President Muhammadu Buhari of deploying images of late chief Emeka Ojukwu in his broadcast to minimize demand for renegotiation of the structure of Nigeria.He said that Buhari's claim that both were in agreement in Daura in 2003 that the country should remain united and united, were simple political tricks.
The forum, represented by Chiefs Edwin Clark, Albert Horsefall (South-South); Chief John Nwodo, Prof. Joe Irukwu (Southeast); And Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Chief Ayo Adebanjo (Southwest), spoke in Lagos at a press conference entitled "Only Restructuring Will Guarantee Nigeria's Unity, Peace and Development."Other participants in the event were Prof. Banji Akintoye, Tony Uranta, National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Chief Gani Adams; Supo Shonibare, Guy Ikokwu, Tony Nyiam and Prof. Walter Ofonagoro.The SLF said, "The meeting between the two could not have been a Sovereign National Conference whose decisions can not be reviewed.
